Rosario’s Two Home Runs Lift Yankees Over Athletics in Bronx

Amed Rosario delivered a standout performance for the Yankees, hitting two home runs in their game against the Athletics. His efforts, including a go-ahead three-run blast in the eighth inning, were instrumental in securing a 5-3 victory for New York.

Boone’s Lineup Decision Pays Off

Yankees manager Aaron Boone made a lineup change, opting to start Amed Rosario against Athletics righty Aaron Civale at Yankee Stadium. This decision came as Ryan McMahon was in a slump. Boone’s choice to start Rosario proved fruitful.

Boone highlighted Rosario’s dedication and energy. “The one thing that [stuck with me] about him last year was how good he was staying ready and being prepared,” the skipper said. He added, “He is really good at doing what he needs to do to be ready every single day.”

Rosario’s Impact at the Plate

Rosario’s readiness was evident against the A’s. The Yankees were familiar with Mark Leiter Jr., a former member of the Bronx Bombers. Leiter entered the game in the eighth inning as New York began to rally. Giancarlo Stanton then narrowed the gap to 3-2 with a single that brought Cody Bellinger home.

Rosario then delivered a Statcast-projected 414-foot shot, extending the Yankees’ lead to two runs. “[There were] a lot of emotions there,” Rosario said. “I was looking for a pitch where I could do some damage. I got it.”

Praise from Manager and Teammates

Boone lauded Rosario’s contribution. “It was a no-doubter to pull the victory out. It was a big night for him,” Boone said. “I just like seeing guys have success. It’s about the Yankees. You are invested in these guys, and you always get excited when they do well personally, too.

“We brought Rosie back because not only is he a really good player, but he is a tremendous teammate. He sets an amazing example for everyone. I’m happy for him to just get it done.”

Teammate José Caballero also praised Rosario’s impact. “We were all excited for him to come through at that moment,” Caballero said. “It’s great to have him on the team. He never has a bad day. He always has high energy. It’s good for the club and for him.” Rosario expressed his gratitude for his teammates’ support.

Rosario explained his positive mindset despite not playing every day. “Although I’m not playing every day, I try to not let that affect me mentally,” he said.
