Reigns and Fatu Set for World Heavyweight Title Clash
World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns is slated to battle Jacob Fatu at WWE Backlash. Reigns claimed the championship after defeating CM Punk at WrestleMania. The following night, The OTC reemerged on Raw with The Usos to celebrate. However, Fatu interrupted and challenged The OTC to a title showdown at Backlash.
Fatu believes The OTC has not done anything for him and his family, stating that Solo Sikoa was the one who brought him to WWE to help destroy Reigns. Fatu is determined to take the World Heavyweight Title. Reigns aims to defeat this family threat and make The Samoan Werewolf acknowledge him.
WWE Backlash streams live Saturday, May 9, on the ESPN App with an ESPN Unlimited Plan in the United States and Netflix internationally.
Rollins and Breakker to Collide
Seth Rollins and Bron Breakker are set to face off at WWE Backlash. Breakker led a coup that ousted Rollins from The Vision in October. After injuries to both superstars, Breakker reappeared at WrestleMania 42, spearing Rollins and costing him his match against Gunther. Breakker followed up with another attack on Rollins after the match.
On Raw after WrestleMania, Breakker delivered a beatdown to his former mentor. This led to a war of words, with Rollins suggesting Breakker prove himself in a one-on-one match.
Williams and Zayn in Personal Showdown
United States Champion Trick Williams will battle Sami Zayn at WWE Backlash. The match follows a series of personal attacks. Williams and Lil Yachty introduced a live-action Gingerbread Man on SmackDown before WrestleMania to mock Sami, which ended with Zayn hitting the character with a Helluva Kick.
Trick captured the United States Title from Zayn at WrestleMania. Five days later on SmackDown, Williams held a Championship Celebration. Zayn disguised himself as Gingerbread Man and attacked Trick and Lil Yachty with a Candy Cane. The following week, Zayn snapped.
