The veteran batter’s performance was a key factor in his team’s strong showing. He reached a fine fifty in the opening session.
Rahim’s Record-Breaking Innings
Rahim was eventually out after scoring 71 runs. This innings marked his 42nd 50-plus score in Tests, surpassing Tamim Iqbal’s record of 41 to become the Bangladesh batter with the most 50-plus scores.
Mushfiqur brought up his 29th Test fifty in the third over of the morning session, nudging Shaheen Shah Afridi for a single. He had resumed the day on 48.
Mushfiqur’s innings of 71 came off 179 balls and included eight fours.
Partnerships and Dismissals
Liton Das and Mushfiqur tried to build a strong partnership before Abbas dismissed Liton for 33. Their partnership amounted to 62 runs.
On Day 1, Mushfiqur added 75 runs with Mominul Haque, who scored 91. Mushfiqur was eventually dismissed by Shaheen Afridi.
