UConn Huskies players showed their support for former teammates Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd at a recent WNBA regular season game. Forward Sarah Strong, along with Ice Brady and Kelis Fisher, were seen courtside during the Dallas Wings-Washington Mystics matchup.
Feaster’s Reaction and UConn’s WNBA Connection
Allison Feaster, Sarah Strong’s mother and former WNBA player, reposted a photo on her Instagram story featuring Strong, Brady, and Fisher at the game. Feaster reacted with a two-word Spanish message, “Las nenas,” accompanied by a crying and a blue heart emoji. The UConn trio were there to support Bueckers and Fudd, who both now play for the Dallas Wings.
Bueckers and Fudd are playing for coach Jose Fernandez’s Dallas-based franchise as back-to-back first overall picks.
Bueckers and Fudd Shine for Dallas
Bueckers and Fudd both had strong performances for the Wings in their game against the Mystics. Bueckers, who hails from Hopkins, Minnesota, led the game in scoring with 18 points. Fudd contributed a season-high 12 points, helping Dallas secure a 92-69 victory over Washington.
Fisher’s Fan Gear and UConn’s Recent Success
Kelis Fisher was spotted on the official WNBA Instagram page sporting Dallas Wings gear. She was wearing a bright green Dallas Wings hat and a blue Azzi Fudd jersey. The Instagram post highlighted the UConn connection with the caption: “UConn connection strong 💙 Azzi Fudd’s former @uconnwbb teammate Kelis Fisher is rockin’ Azzi’s draft gear and jersey at the Wings home game! 📺 WAS-DAL | NBCSN + Peacock.”
Fudd is coming off the Huskies’ 2026 NCAA Final Four loss alongside Strong, Brady and Fisher. They lost in the national tournament semifinal game by 14 points, 62-48, at the hands of coach Dawn Staley’s South Carolina Gamecocks.
Before that, Bueckers, Strong, Fudd, and the rest of the Connecticut-based programme won the 2025 national championship game. This gave their illustrious team its 13th national championship, defeating the Gamecocks that time around by 23 points, 82-59.
With Bueckers and Fudd already in the WNBA, it remains to be seen if Strong will follow in their footsteps, and her mother’s.
