Draymond Green Addresses Charles Barkley Feud After Criticism

Draymond Green has responded to criticism following his comments about Charles Barkley. The Golden State Warriors player initially criticised Barkley’s later career with the Houston Rockets. The remarks sparked a public feud between the two NBA figures.

Green Clarifies His Comments

Green addressed the controversy, stating that his intent was not to disrespect Barkley. His initial criticism referenced Barkley’s time with the Houston Rockets. Green made the initial comments during an appearance on “Inside the NBA.”

Green has since clarified his position on “The Draymond Green Show”. He said, “The reason that I would even say that is what Chuck makes fun about in his career is actually the last 2 years in Houston.”

Green addressed the perception of disrespect, saying, “Everybody tried to make it like this whole ‘Ahh man Draymond think he better than Chuck’… the disrespect ain’t the intent so if that’s the way it’s viewed as public disrespect, I can gladly public apologize, disrespect wasn’t my intent.”

Barkley’s Initial Criticism and Response

Barkley had suggested that the Golden State Warriors’ championship window has closed. He said Green would need to leave the Warriors to win another championship. “It’s over for the Warriors,” Barkley stated on May 6. “No disrespect. It is for every old team. You have your run, you get old … it just passed you by. Y’all had one of the greatest runs ever.”

Barkley responded to Green’s comments a few days later. Speaking on the “Bickley and Marotta” radio show, Barkley said, “Draymond is a good player. We’re not on the same level … I can hear, but I don’t have to respond every time somebody says something about me.”

Barkley addressed the situation further during a series of media interviews. He said he wasn’t offended by Green’s criticism. Barkley told “The Dan Patrick Show”, “He took a shot at me but I don’t get offended because ― I’ve said things about guys, they took personal shots at me.”

Barkley also admitted regretting his time with the Rockets, especially the final two years. He said, “You know, it’s so funny, last time you had me on the show, I told you I regretted those Rocket years, especially the last two where I sucked as a player. But I wasn’t turning down no free money, I had two years left on my contract.”

The initial criticism came after Dakich discussed the Warriors’ playoff loss and Steve Kerr’s future.

Green’s initial comments pointed to Barkley’s four-year stint with the Houston Rockets. He said, “I think the goal is just to not look like you in the Houston Rockets uniform”.

Despite the back and forth, Barkley has brushed off Green’s remarks.
