Alex McLeish has said he can’t understand why Rangers never pursued a deal for Lawrence Shankland. McLeish revealed he advised an investor at the club to snap up the centre-forward a “few years back”. The Glaswegian club reasoned that they would rather sign players aged 26 or below.

A UK stadium is the “frontrunner” to stage the Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury mega-fight, according to promoter Eddie Hearn. Fury and Joshua have signed a deal to box this year. The location of the fight is not yet decided and the contest could be held overseas.
Robert Lewandowski scored for FC Barcelona in their match against Valencia, but it wasn’t enough. Valencia defeated Barcelona 3-1. The hosts’ aspirations for European qualification hinged partly on this game.
