Zurich Classic 2026: Fitzpatrick Brothers Seek Contention After Round 1

Matt and Alex Fitzpatrick are looking to climb the leaderboard at the 2026 Zurich Classic of New Orleans.

The brothers carded an eight-under 64 in the opening round’s four-ball format. This leaves them six shots behind the early leaders, Alex Smalley and Hayden Springer.

Fitzpatricks’ Round 1 Performance

The Fitzpatrick brothers are participating in the Zurich Classic for the second consecutive year. Their performance in the first round suggests they are unlikely to miss the cut, unlike last year.

However, they need a strong showing in the second round to move into contention. Brooks Koepka and Shane Lowry, playing alongside the Fitzpatricks, recorded a six-under score on the first day.
