Robertson, Trump, O’Sullivan Matches Underway

Several matches are currently in progress. Chris Wakelin is facing Neil Robertson, with the score at 4-4. Judd Trump is up against Hossein Vafaei, also tied at 4-4. John Higgins is trailing Ronnie O’Sullivan 2-6.

Mark Selby’s match against Wu Yize is also evenly poised at 4-4.

Zhao Xintong Advances to Quarter-Finals

Zhao Xintong defeated Ding Junhui 13-9 in a high-quality encounter. This victory moves Zhao into the 2026 World Championship quarter-finals. Zhao began the final session with a 9-7 lead. Ding won the opening frame of the session, which lasted 46 minutes. Zhao then won the next two frames to move ahead 11-8, before Ding took the 20th frame with a break of 76.

Zhao sealed the win, making a century break of 108, his third of the match, in the next frame.

Selby and Yize End Session Level After Dramatic Frame

The final frame of the first session between Mark Selby and Wu Yize was filled with drama. Mark Selby tried to snooker Wu Yize on the final red. The red caught the jaws of one middle pocket and ended up right over the opposite middle. Wu then went in off with the cue ball when potting it. This handed Selby an easy chance on the yellow. The score is now 4-4.

Mark Selby was 40-odd points behind in this final frame of the session. A safety error from Wu Yize gifted him a big chance to turn that all around.

Mark Selby levelled matters against Wu Yize at 3-3 with an 81 break. Wu Yize then fired back with a 72 to nudge back in front.

Zhao Xintong will face 2005 winner Shaun Murphy in the quarter-final.

After the morning session matches, there will be an hour’s pause before the afternoon action begins.
