World Cup Start Date and Ticket Sales
The 2026 World Cup is scheduled to run from June 11 to July 19. Over one million tickets had already been sold by the end of the previous release between December and February.
Additional tickets will be put on general sale from April 1 until the end of the tournament. FIFA President Gianni Infantino stated in January that the demand for tickets was exceptionally high.
Ticket Pricing and Criticism
FIFA has faced criticism regarding its ticket pricing strategy for the tournament. The tournament is co-hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico.
In December, fans voiced concerns over ticket prices, which ranged from $140 for the cheapest group games to $8,680 for the final. Football Supporters Europe joined with consumer group Euroconsumers to make a formal complaint with the European Commission over prices.
FSE has criticised the high prices and the use of “dynamic pricing” for the first time at a World Cup, which could lead to further cost increases.
What to Expect in the Final Sales Phase
FIFA has confirmed that remaining tickets will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis. In this latest phase, fans can select specific seats. Those who have already purchased tickets will be able to see their seat allocations from April 1.
