WNBA’s Arike Ogunbowale Arrested After Alleged Nightclub Altercation

Arike Ogunbowale, a WNBA All-Star, found herself in trouble with the law following an alleged incident at a Miami nightclub. The Dallas Wings player was arrested on Thursday after allegedly punching a security guard at E11EVEN.

Details of the Alleged Incident

Police were called to E11EVEN following reports of a physical altercation. According to the complaint, a security guard was attempting to escort Ogunbowale, 29, out of the club due to an earlier, separate altercation. The security guard alleges that Ogunbowale then punched him in the face with a closed fist, causing him to fall to the ground.

Ogunbowale was identified at the scene by the alleged victim and was taken into custody without incident for battery. Security footage reportedly captured the altercation.

Championship Celebration Turns Sour

Prior to the alleged incident, Ogunbowale and her Mist teammates were celebrating their Unrivaled championship win over Phantom at the same club. Ogunbowale scored 19 points in the game.

Social media footage shows Ogunbowale partying with Paige Bueckers and Aziaha James before her arrest.

Ogunbowale’s Accomplishments

Ogunbowale is a four-time All-Star and two-time ASG MVP. She led the league in scoring in 2020. Ogunbowale also won an NCAA championship at Notre Dame.

E11EVEN’s Response

E11EVEN declined to comment on the specific incident involving Ogunbowale. However, the club released a statement:

“We are proud that E11EVEN Miami continues to be the location of choice for so many people to celebrate major moments and milestones. We were thrilled to have served as the venue for the official championship after party for the Unrivaled champions and are honored that athletes and teams across multiple sports consistently choose E11EVEN to celebrate their victories.”
