Wizz Air has become the Official Airline Partner for the World Athletics Ultimate Championship.
The inaugural event is scheduled for 11-13 September in Budapest. Wizz Air will play a key role in transportation logistics, ensuring athletes arrive ready to compete. The partnership was formalised at Wizz Air’s headquarters in Budapest.
Champions to Receive Travel Vouchers
Adding to the excitement, every ultimate champion will receive travel vouchers. These vouchers will allow them to travel across Wizz Air’s network.
World Athletics President Sebastian Coe said they were delighted to announce Wizz Air as the official airline. He added that Hungary’s largest airline will be playing a significant role in the success of the Ultimate Championship as it comes to Budapest.
Budapest Gears Up to Host
Balázs Fürjes, the co-chair of the organising committee, emphasised Budapest’s status as a global sport capital. He noted that Hungarian fans have witnessed 30 major international competitions across 25 summer Olympic sports in the last seven years. Fürjes stated they were delighted to host the Ultimate Championship.
Fürjes added that they proudly share this historic moment with Wizz Air.

About the Championship
The World Athletics Ultimate Championship is set to transform the athletics calendar. It will define which athlete is the best of the very best every two years. The championship pits world champions, Olympic champions, the Diamond League winners and this year’s best performing athletes against each other.
The global championship event is launching in 2026.
