Veronika Erjavec has reached the final of the WTA 125 series tournament in China.
The Slovenian tennis player will have the opportunity to win her third singles title at this level on Sunday morning. Erjavec is also defending her title in Huzhou. The points she earns will give her a career-high ranking on Monday.
Erjavec’s Ranking Set to Improve
The twenty-six-year-old from Idrija has already improved her previous record of 91st place by reaching the final. A win in the final against Poland’s Katarzyna Kawa would move her closer to 80th place in the world.
Undefeated Run in Huzhou
Veronika Erjavec, the top seed in Huzhou, has not lost a set this week. She was better than Xiyu Wang in the semi-final with a score of 6:3 and 7:6.
Wang eliminated Polona Hercog from Maribor in the quarter-finals of the €98,000 tournament. Hercog will also leave China satisfied, as she will move closer to 200th place in the new rankings.
The final awaits Erjavec.
