Van Veen Withdraws From Premier League Darts in Dublin

Gian van Veen has withdrawn from Night Seven in the Premier League in Dublin after being diagnosed with kidney stones. The Dutch No 1 had been due to face Michael van Gerwen in Thursday night’s quarter-final matchup. Van Gerwen now receives a bye through to the semi-finals.

Van Gerwen Gains, Van Veen Loses

Van Gerwen also receives two league points and a +1 leg difference. Van Veen surrenders a -6 leg difference and gets no points.

Van Veen currently sits in fourth place through six nights after finishing runner-up three times. He has been ruled out while he remains in hospital.

The Race for Finals Night

Jonny Clayton arrives in Dublin eight points clear at the top of the Premier League table and seeking to win his third consecutive night after success in Glasgow and Nottingham. Van Veen is one of three players on nine points alongside Gerwyn Price and Luke Humphries amid a tight race for finals night, with Van Gerwen trailing the group on eight points.

Night Seven Matchups in Dublin

Night Seven of the darting roadshow will take place at Dublin’s 3Arena. Stephen Bunting takes on Luke Littler, Josh Rock goes up against Gerwyn Price for the first time in this year’s Premier League, and table-topper Clayton meets reigning champion Humphries in a repeat of last Thursday’s final.
