UFC Fight Night: Brundage Back in Win Column After Emotional Victory

The Octagon landed in Las Vegas for UFC Fight Night. Arnold Allen faced Melquizael Costa in the main event. The card featured Malcolm Wellmaker and Tommy Gantt.

Brundage Breaks Losing Streak

Cody Brundage returned to the win column with a second-round stoppage against Andre Petroski. After a slow first round, Brundage came out strong in the second, landing a left hand that dropped Petroski. Brundage then capitalised, securing the finish.

This victory marked an emotional moment for Brundage, who had previously suffered three consecutive losses. The win coincided with Brundage’s 32nd birthday.

Ardelean Extends Winning Streak

Alice Ardelean extended her winning streak to three with a submission win over Polyana Viana. Ardelean took the initiative on the feet in the first round, landing significant strikes.

In the second round, the fight went to the ground. Viana locked up a body triangle and looked to attack with elbows, but Ardelean trapped Viana’s foot, applying pressure and forcing a submission.

Ardelean, originally from Romania, is improving with each fight, demonstrating toughness and grit. She is progressing in the strawweight division.

Gurule Claims First UFC Win

Luis Gurule secured his first UFC victory. He defeated Daniel Barez in a flyweight contest. Barez started aggressively, but Gurule responded, taking control in the latter half of the first round.

Gurule hurt Barez multiple times in the second round, maintaining his forward pressure into the third. While Gurule didn’t secure a finish, the result was clear when the fight concluded.

After previous losses, this win marked a significant moment for the Dana White’s Contender Series alum.

UFC Fight Night: Allen vs Costa took place on Saturday, May 16. The prelims began at 5pm ET/2pm PT, followed by the main card at 8pm ET/5pm PT.
