The Philadelphia Eagles are reportedly among multiple teams vying for Trey Hendrickson, one of the top remaining free agents. However, a recent injury may complicate matters.
Eagles Show Interest Amidst Competition
After a relatively quiet start to the NFL’s negotiating window, the Eagles have emerged as a potential destination for Hendrickson. NFL insider Dianna Russini reports that the Indianapolis Colts and Baltimore Ravens are also in the mix.
The Eagles’ need for a new edge rusher is apparent after Jaelan Phillips’ departure to the Carolina Panthers. While the Eagles were reportedly interested in retaining Phillips, they weren’t willing to meet his $30 million per year asking price.
Hendrickson’s Injury and Price Tag
Hendrickson is reportedly seeking $30 million per year himself. Adding to the complexity, he’s coming off a hip/pelvis injury that ended his 2025 season early, landing him on injured reserve. He recorded four sacks in seven games last year.
Despite the injury-shortened 2025, Hendrickson’s previous performance speaks volumes. He tallied 35 sacks across 34 games in 2023 and 2024 combined. From 2021, he had a run of four straight Pro Bowl seasons, and finished second in Defensive Player of the Year voting in 2024.
Could Eagles Look Elsewhere?
It remains to be seen whether the Eagles can reach an agreement with Hendrickson. If a deal cannot be made, they may need to explore alternative options to bolster their pass rush. One possibility could be engaging the Las Vegas Raiders about a Maxx Crosby trade after his unexpected failed physical with the Baltimore Ravens.
Howie Roseman’s presence suggests that anything is possible.
UPDATE: Hendrickson has reportedly agreed to a four-year, $112 million contract with the Ravens. It’s TBD if Baltimore backs out of this deal, too.
