Tottenham Face Atlético Madrid With Injury and Suspension Concerns

Tottenham Hotspur has a number of player availability concerns ahead of their UEFA Champions League Round of 16 second leg against Atletico Madrid.

The match is scheduled for Wednesday night at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Injury and Suspension Update

Igor Tudor may have four players returning for the second leg. However, Conor Gallagher and Dominic Solanke are rated doubtful for the clash.

Joao Palhinha will not make it after being injured in the first leg in Madrid. Richarlison is serving a one-match suspension after picking up three yellow cards.

Souza and Yves Bissouma are also unavailable, both ineligible.

Gallagher and Solanke Doubts

Speaking on Tuesday afternoon, Igor Tudor said that both Conor Gallagher (virus) and Dominic Solanke are doubtful. “We’ve some good news, but also some bad news because Conor (Gallagher) is not here, and Dom (Solanke) has some small problems, so we’ll see tomorrow how he is,” he said. “Also, Souza is not available (ineligible).

Igor Tudor added: “We’ll see today what we can do, because he has, as you know, probably asthma problems. He gets some virus, which is not a nice thing. We’re going to see if he’s able tomorrow to go on the bench, we hope. It’s nothing like a danger, but still, he’s not able to play.”

Positive News on the Bench

Destiny and Lucas will be on the bench. They will only play one part of the game, because they just started training with us.

According to Igor Tudor, it’s good to see them. “So, we are very similar (to Liverpool on Sunday) in terms of numbers. If we see that Destiny and Lucas can play one small part of the game, okay, that’s a positive thing, to see new faces, good energy.

  • Destiny and Lucas will be on the bench.
  • Romero can play.

Romero’s Return and Palhinha’s Setback

Romero is available to play. Joao Palhinha, however, is a little bit worse and will be out for the next game.

Igor reported: “Destiny and Lucas will be on the bench tomorrow – one part of the game, not too much because they just started training with us, but it’s good to see them.

“Romero? He’s there. He can play. Joao (Palhinha), no. Joao is a little bit worse, so he’ll be for the next game, but Romero is in.”

Looking ahead, Igor Tudor stated, “Also, for sure, two or three more will come back for Nottingham Forest (on Sunday).”
