Blackburn Rovers Mourn the Loss of Tony Parkes at 76

Blackburn Rovers are mourning the death of Tony Parkes, who passed away at the age of 76. A club legend, Parkes dedicated 34 years of his life to Rovers as both a player and a coach.

A Rovers Stalwart on and off the Pitch

Parkes made over 400 appearances for Blackburn as a midfielder. His commitment to the club extended beyond his playing career, as he transitioned into a coaching role.

He worked under 16 different managers. This included Kenny Dalglish during the Premier League title-winning season in 1994-95.

Multiple Spells as Caretaker Manager

Parkes also served as caretaker manager for Rovers on six separate occasions. He left the club in 2004.

Parkes’s Passing Follows Alzheimer’s Diagnosis

In 2020, Parkes was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. His daughter Natalie announced that he had died on Wednesday.

Parkes’s long association with Blackburn Rovers has come to an end.
