Following her victory over Alycia Parks in the third round, Coco Gauff surprised reporters with her detailed knowledge of Sorana Cîrstea. Gauff referenced their previous encounter at the Australian Open in 2020, where she won in three sets.
Gauff said that she remembers their match at the Australian Open, even though it was a while ago. She anticipates a similar, high-quality contest. Gauff is aware that Cîrstea is in her last year on the circuit and has nothing to lose.
Gauff added that she believes Cîrstea reached a semi-final or even the final in Miami previously, and feels comfortable at the tournament.
Cîrstea’s Victory Over Mertens
