Sinner Reaches Internazionali Final with Career Golden Masters in Sight

Jannik Sinner is set to compete in the Internazionali final, with the aim of securing a Career Golden Masters.

Sinner’s Route to the Final

The final has begun with Ruud serving first. The players have entered the field, with Ruud preceding Sinner. The choir of Santa Cecilia performed the Italian anthem before the final. The President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, is in attendance for the match between Sinner and Ruud.

Ruud secured the first game, closing it out at 0 with a winning serve and a return out by Sinner, followed by an ace.

Sinner then faced an early setback, with a backhand error followed by another, handing Ruud two break points. Another unforced error allowed Ruud to move ahead. Sinner immediately recovered, converting a break point with a powerful shot. Sinner had appeared tense at the start.

Ruud’s first error went long, but he quickly compensated with a drop shot and a passing shot. Two more errors from the Norwegian gave Jannik two break points, which he converted with a great shot. The world number one immediately straightened the set, which started with great tension for him.

Ruud then hit a short ball that Sinner couldn’t reach, before the Norwegian found the 15-15 with a forehand. A very long exchange ensued, with Sinner constantly changing and Ruud trying to defend but ultimately failing. Then another ball into the net and a first winner from Jannik.

Ruud’s second ace was followed by a backhand down the line. Sinner’s backhand, a little low, ended up in the net for 0-40. The Norwegian’s forehand then went into the net, and an unusual counter-bounce pushed the shot down the line into the corridor. Then Jannik’s backhand error closed the game.

Ruud complained about a mobile phone ringing, then hit a short ball into the corridor. Sinner responded with a short ball that stopped on the net. Ruud’s forehand then came in twice, then he risked too much for 40-40. In the exchange, Jannik moved onto his forehand but shot into the net for Ruud’s advantage. Jannik remedied with a smash. An exchange at the net saw Ruud pass Sinner, who recovered but sent the ball out, then Ruud closed the game with a cross-court forehand.
