Jannik Sinner has reached the Miami Open final for a fourth time after winning against Alexander Zverev.
The Italian won 6-3 7-6 (7-4) and will now face Czech Jiri Lehecka on Sunday.
Sinner’s Dominance Continues
Sinner has now won eight of his 12 matches against Alexander Zverev.
This win marks Sinner’s seventh consecutive victory against Zverev. Two weeks ago, Sinner also beat Zverev in the Indian Wells semis.
Sinner said: “Today was a very tough encounter. He played some incredible tennis, but I was serving very well, especially in the end and in the crucial moments.”
Sunshine Double in Sight
Sinner is aiming to become the first man since Roger Federer in 2017 to complete the ‘Sunshine Double’. This follows his win in Indian Wells this month.
“It has been an incredible swing,” said Sinner, who claimed his 16th successive win in Masters 1,000 tournament and extended his record of consecutive sets won to 32.
“I’ve been trying to play as many matches as possible and I couldn’t do any better.
“Standing here again, in the final, means very, very much to me.”
Lehecka Advances to First Masters 1,000 Final
Jiri Lehecka defeated Frenchman Arthur Fils 6-2 6-2 to reach his first Masters 1,000 final.
The 21st seed completed the victory in an hour and 15 minutes.
“I’m very excited that I’m in a final,” said Lehecka.
“At the same time, it’s just a sport. There are more important things going on in the world right now.
“I’m just trying to do what I do best.”
Sinner is aiming to win a second Miami title in three years.
