The Monster Energy AMA Supercross season concludes at Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City, Utah, after 16 rounds. The championship battle is set to be one of the most unpredictable and gripping of all time. All eyes are on the 450SX class where Ken Roczen and Hunter Lawrence are separated by a single point.
The rider who finishes ahead will be crowned the 2027 Champion. Both Roczen and Lawrence have stated they are approaching the race like any other, but the pressure is immense.
A Dream Scenario for Lawrence
The championship showdown is not just serious for the riders involved, but also exciting for the fans. Lawrence himself said that this is the kind of scenario he used to dream of as a kid, summing it up as “So sick!”
250 Class East/West Showdown
In the 250 Class, the pressure is off as both championships have already been decided. Cole Davies secured the 250SX East Division title, while Haiden Deegan clinched the title in the 250SX West Division.
The East/West Showdown is still set to be an exciting race, particularly as it marks Deegan’s final race aboard a 250.
Track Conditions and Challenges
The track in Salt Lake City is described as fairly basic, with the exception of the whoops. The whoops are large and caused problems for riders during practice sessions. There are twelve whoops in total, followed by a long, sweeping righthand sand section. The weather is hot and sunny, which is expected to make the track dry and slick.
Qualifying Report: Deegan Sets the Pace
The 250SX qualifiers are separated between the East and West riders, with the West Division going first. Haiden Deegan set a fast time of 50.313 in the first qualifier.
Qualifying is underway, setting the stage for the final race of the Supercross season in Salt Lake City.
