Sir Rod Stewart has appealed to Celtic and Rangers supporters to “behave themselves” ahead of their upcoming clash in Glasgow.
The singer, a lifelong Celtic fan, addressed supporters on social media after questions about the violence that occurred during the March 8 match between the two clubs.
Arrests and Condemnation After Previous Old Firm Match
The previous match saw 20 arrests after Celtic fans invaded the pitch at Ibrox, followed by Rangers fans. Several people were injured in the disorder, including police officers and members of the public.
First Minister John Swinney described the behaviour at the game as “appalling” and said it posed a severe danger to fans, police officers and stewards.
Swinney criticised Rangers and Celtic for taking “too long” to condemn the brawl.

Stewart’s Plea for Responsible Behaviour
Sir Rod said: “I’ve got no idea what happened.
“There’s no excuses whatsoever.
“I find that behaviour somewhat archaic nowadays.”
Sir Rod confirmed he would be in Glasgow for Sunday’s match.
He added: “Let’s try to pull together and behave ourselves.”
Police say the number of Rangers v Celtic arrests has been revealed and a top cop says clubs need to do more.
Calls for Action and Reflection
The SFA are in talks with ministers over ‘unacceptable’ Old Firm violence.
Following the previous match, the behaviour was labelled “appalling” by ministers, and First Minister John Swinney said it posed a severe danger to fans, police officers and stewards.
Calls for an away fan ban are growing after Swinney slammed ‘utterly unacceptable’ Old Firm violence.
That match saw 2 teens charged and Old Firm ‘disorder’ arrest total rise to 19.
