The Houston Rockets may look to make significant changes to their roster in the offseason, with Alperen Sengun potentially on the move.
Sengun’s Performance and Potential Trade
Alperen Sengun is coming off his second consecutive All-Star campaign. He averaged 20.4 points, 8.9 rebounds, and 6.2 assists. Sengun also recorded 34 double-doubles. This tied him with Luka Doncic for ninth-most in the NBA.
However, a report has surfaced that Sengun could be traded this summer if the Rockets face an early and disappointing exit from the postseason.
Possible Trade Targets
According to Will Guillory of The Athletic, Sengun could be moved for a player like Giannis Antetokounmpo, Kawhi Leonard, or Donovan Mitchell. The Rockets were previously linked to Antetokounmpo.
Prior to Game 3, the report indicated Sengun’s future with the team may be uncertain depending on the Rockets’ playoff performance.
Game 3 Performance
In Game 3, Sengun scored 33 points and grabbed 16 rebounds. He also had 6 assists, 3 steals and a block, playing for 47 minutes. He shot 1-of-5 from 3-point land. The Rockets are currently down 0-3.
Roster Construction Implications
Adding another superstar would force the team to surrender roster depth. This would leave the Rockets compromised when it comes to replacing that depth.
It will be interesting to see what the Rockets do this offseason from a roster construction standpoint.
