Richarlison Reveals Failed PSG Transfers Amid Mbappe Speculation

Tottenham’s Richarlison has revealed details of multiple occasions where he nearly signed for Paris Saint-Germain. The Brazilian international said that the potential transfers were linked to Kylian Mbappe’s possible departures from the club.

Mbappe’s Exit and PSG’s Interest

Richarlison explained that PSG approached him as a possible replacement for Mbappe. The Spurs striker, who moved from Everton in 2022 for around £50m, said his agent even discussed terms in Paris. Speaking to France Football, Richarlison confirmed the repeated interest from the Ligue 1 side.

The Neymar Factor

A move to PSG would have given Richarlison the chance to play alongside Neymar. The Tottenham player has openly admired Neymar and has a tattoo featuring the former Barcelona star. Neymar left PSG for Al-Hilal in the summer of 2023.

Richarlison admitted that playing with his fellow countryman was a major draw. “I wanted to go there, we talked about it together with Neymar during the Selecao gatherings. It didn’t work out, unfortunately, it’s a shame. It would have been incredible to play in Paris with him and the other Brazilians,” he said.

Tattoo Tribute to Brazil Legends

Richarlison has a tattoo featuring himself, Neymar and Ronaldo. He also has Pele’s signature tattooed on his back. He explained, “I love Neymar with all my heart. I got Neymar’s face tattooed on my back. I also have Ronaldo and Pele’s signature. One day, Pele told me that I had made Brazil smile. Coming from the King, it was magical. I got that phrase tattooed on my back, with his dedication.”

Tottenham’s Struggles and International Future

Despite scoring nine times this season, Richarlison now finds himself in a difficult position at Tottenham. Spurs are currently struggling in the Premier League relegation zone as they prepare for life under new manager Roberto De Zerbi.

His international future also remains a question mark heading into the 2026 World Cup. Having been left out of the most recent training camps and not appearing for Brazil since October, the man once seen as the successor to the legends on his back faces an uphill battle.
