Rex Culpepper, Former Syracuse Quarterback, Dies at 28

Rex Culpepper, a former Syracuse quarterback, has died. He was 28 years old.

Culpepper’s fiancé, Savanna Morgan, posted a tribute on Instagram on Monday. A cause of death has not been confirmed.

Savanna Morgan wrote of Culpepper being her soulmate. She added that she did not “regret a single day” of their years together. Morgan said that she and others who cared about him will “never truly be able to move on after knowing someone like him”.

Eric Dungey, a former Syracuse teammate, shared a photo on Instagram. The caption read, “[R.I.P.] Rexy. A guy who had zero fear and truly lived life to the fullest. Thanks for all the memories brother.”

Culpepper’s Time at Syracuse

Culpepper played in 30 games for Syracuse. He started as quarterback in 2016. He was part of the team from 2016 to 2020.

In March 2018, Culpepper announced he had testicular cancer. He beat it.

Family Connection to the NFL

Culpepper was the son of Brad Culpepper. Brad Culpepper is a former NFL defensive lineman. He also appeared on the “Survivor” TV show as a runner-up.

Culpepper’s fiancé, Savanna Morgan, said that “[There wasn’t] one thing that man [couldn’t] do.”
