South East Melbourne Phoenix are set to face Adelaide, with the aim of levelling the Playoff Series on Saturday night.
Following a seven-point defeat in Game 1, Josh King’s team are keen to get back on the court.
King said they wanted to play sooner and have used the time to make necessary adjustments.
King’s Strategy for Game 2
King believes the fans will be vital to his team’s chances of forcing a Game 3 in Adelaide on Tuesday.
He stated that Melbourne is a sports capital and considers their show the best in town.
King highlighted the importance of multiple players performing well, not just Nathan Sobey.
He also identified John Brown III as one of their most important players, emphasising the energy and defensive mindset he brings.
Limiting Bryce Cotton
King acknowledged the need to limit Bryce Cotton, who scored 42 points in the previous game.
King said that they can’t allow him easy looks.
He conceded that Cotton will score points but stressed the importance of making him work harder on both sides of the court.
“You’re not going to stop him from scoring, we don’t mind him scoring, but we have to make him work more on both sides of the floor. I don’t think that’s any secret.”
Game 2 is scheduled for Saturday, live on ESPN.
