Paul Wight Signs New AEW Deal: Commentary and Special Appearances

Paul Wight has signed a new contract with AEW.

Wight’s original multi-year deal with AEW was signed in February 2021. The deal included roles as both a commentator for AEW Dark: Elevation and as an in-ring performer.

New Deal Confirmed

Sources within AEW confirmed the new deal to Fightful Select. Neither AEW nor Wight have made an official announcement.

Shift to Commentary and Special Attractions

Since joining AEW, Wight has wrestled sparingly. Injury issues have limited his match frequency. He has appeared primarily in special attraction bouts rather than regular competition.

Wight has not held any championships in AEW. He does not appear in the promotion’s current singles or tag team rankings.

His role has shifted more heavily toward commentary and occasional appearances rather than consistent in-ring work.

Wight’s Recent Appearances

Paul Wight was seen inside the ring at the Jericho Cruise in 2024. He joined forces with Chris Jericho and Mike Bailey to take on Kyle Fletcher, Powerhouse Hobbs, and Lance Archer.

Wight’s most recent appearance on AEW TV came during the Full Gear Tailgate Brawl last November. He joined the commentary desk for a singles match between QT Marshall and Big Boom AJ.
