Oneil Cruz was scratched from the Pirates’ starting lineup against the Cardinals because of an illness.
Cruz’s Absence From Monday’s Game
Cruz evidently fell ill prior to Monday’s game. This prompted the Pirates to replace him with Jake Mangum in center field. Spencer Horwitz was shifted to the leadoff spot in the batting order as a result.
Treatment and Potential Return
Cruz will continue to receive treatment. The Pirates hope to have him cleared to return for Tuesday’s contest against St. Louis.
