Olise Levels With Fernandes in Assist Race After Bayern Appearance

Michael Olise is making a name for himself, with some calling him arguably the best right-sided player in Europe.

The Bayern Munich player is now chasing the title of Europe’s top leagues’ assist leader after his most recent performance against Heidenheim.

Olise’s Assist Against Heidenheim

Vincent Kompany made changes to the starting XI against Heidenheim following their loss to PSG, bringing Olise into the game just before the restart.

Goals from Budu Zivzivadze and Eren Dinkçi put FCH ahead after the first 45 minutes, prompting the introduction of Olise, Harry Kane, Luis Díaz, and Joshua Kimmich.

Leon Goretzka scored for Bayern just before halftime and then completed his brace 12 minutes after the restart. It was Olise who provided the assist, marking his 19th Bundesliga assist of the season and 26th across all competitions.

Neck-and-Neck With Bruno Fernandes

With that assist, the Frenchman now has the same number of assists as Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes.

Both are aiming to be the first player since Kevin De Bruyne in the 2019/20 season to achieve 20 or more league assists across the top five leagues.

Despite Olise’s contribution, Bayern were facing a potential defeat after Zivzivadze scored his second goal inside the final 20 minutes.

Olise is no longer just a star in the making.
