Oba Femi Eyes Brock Lesnar Matchup After Royal Rumble Impact

Oba Femi is making waves after transitioning from NXT to Raw and SmackDown. The Nigerian heavyweight made an immediate impression by eliminating Bron Breakker, Solo Sikoa, Rey Mysterio, and Matt Cardona in January’s Royal Rumble.

From NXT to Main Roster

Femi had a strong showing against Cody Rhodes in December at Saturday Night’s Main Event. This was on the same card as John Cena’s in-ring curtain call. Femi vacated the NXT Championship at New Year’s Evil. WWE clearly intends to focus on him during WrestleMania season. His next challenge is against Rusev on the March 9 episode of Raw.

Femi discussed his rapid rise and the possibility of a match against Brock Lesnar.

He noted the increased travel and larger audience on the main roster compared to NXT. He said that he was able to translate to the main roster effortlessly and seamlessly. According to Femi, the crowd has been behind him.

Mentors and Pressure

When asked about who has helped him adjust to the main roster, Femi mentioned his mentors Ivar and Coach Matt Bloom. He said that he always goes to them. However, he said there was nobody in particular on the road.

Femi addressed the pressure of being billed as an unstoppable monster. He stated it is nothing new. He added that he did that during his entire NXT run and is continuing to do it now. Femi believes his ability to handle pressure is why he is where he is.

Potential Showdown with Brock Lesnar

Comparisons have been made between Femi and Brock Lesnar. Femi acknowledged Lesnar’s impressive career. He mentioned Lesnar being a UFC champion, multiple time WWE champion and Royal Rumble winner.

Femi expressed interest in facing Lesnar. He noted that fans have been requesting the match. Femi stated that it is going to happen one day soon. He referred to a potential match against himself, “The Ruler,” as a way to cap off Lesnar’s career.

Femi is set to face Rusev on the March 9 episode of Raw.
