Nitish Reddy has impressed for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) this season. The all-rounder has become a vital part of the team, showing improvements with both bat and ball.
Reddy’s Improvement and Impact
Sunrisers Hyderabad assistant coach James Franklin has praised Nitish Reddy’s development. Franklin said Reddy is a much improved T20 cricketer from the last Indian Premier League season. A fitter Reddy has made an impact with both the bat and his medium pace bowling for SRH this season, according to Franklin. He added that the Indian all-rounder has made significant improvements in his game.
Batting and Bowling Contributions
Reddy has contributed with both bat and ball this IPL season. He has taken seven wickets and scored 264 runs in 13 games. Last season, he scored 182 runs and bowled 30 balls.
Confidence and Role in the Team
Franklin noted Reddy’s confidence with the bat. He said Reddy looked as confident as ever with the bat in the early part of their campaign. According to Franklin, the first couple of games gave him some validation in terms of getting a couple of little cameo scores and partnerships. This gave him the confidence to perform his role.
Franklin explained that Reddy’s role has been slightly deeper this year. He is coming in with maybe six or seven overs to go at No. 5 or No. 6. He has played some unbelievable cameos for them in finishing off innings, according to Franklin. His bowling has also been a key factor.
Utilisation in Different Scenarios
Reddy has been used in different phases of the game. He has been utilised in opening the bowling and in the middle overs. This depends on what SRH foresee being the best match-up for him to enter the game. Franklin added that Reddy’s contribution for them this year has been immense.
Learnings from Last Season
Franklin said that Nitish probably took a lot of learnings last year. There were a few things, form wise, that probably didn’t start exactly how he wanted to for him. Franklin noted that there might have been a bit more expectation with him having just recently been involved with India.
