NFL Mock Draft 2026: Projecting the First Five Rounds

The city of Pittsburgh is set to host the 2026 NFL Draft.

A new mock draft projects the first five rounds, anticipating trades and QB movement in the opening round. Wide receiver is projected to be the most represented position, followed by edge rushers.

Projected Quarterback Moves

Six quarterbacks are projected to come off the board in the first 181 selections.

One projection involves pairing Mendoza and Kirk Cousins in the same QB room. Mendoza’s game is described as featuring Cousins’ personality and pocket poise, with the athleticism and intelligence of Alex Smith.

Offensive and Defensive Line Projections

The Cardinals could solidify their right tackle position for the next decade with Mauigoa. His combination of sturdy anchor and intense run blocking is said to make him worthy of a high selection.

Freeling is noted as one of the few true left tackles available in this draft. His length and athleticism may attract the Browns as they look for a blindside blocker.

Reese’s size and position versatility may give him an advantage. He is considered a tough run defender and explosive pass rusher.

Defensive Backfield Considerations

The Commanders currently have Amik Robertson and Mike Sainristil, and they hope to get Trey Amos back after his injury. Delane is considered the class’s top cover corner. He could give Dan Quinn size outside and allow him to stick with man coverage more frequently.

Downs’ talent and leadership could make him a top-10 safety selection. Downs possesses similar versatility as Derwin James.

Potential Running Back Selection

Last year, Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh selected Omarion Hampton in Round 1. Love’s rushing and receiving abilities could take an offense to the next level.

The Chiefs are described as being in desperate need of help off the edge.

The 2026 NFL Draft will be broadcast on NFL Network and NFL+ from April 23-25.
