The NFL combine recently took place in Indianapolis, marking a key stage in the lead-up to the 2026 NFL draft. Over 300 prospective players attended the event at Lucas Oil Stadium, participating in drills, interviews, and medical examinations. A fresh mock draft now projects the first two rounds.
Raiders Eye Quarterback While Jets Focus on Defence
The Raiders are predicted to select Fernando Mendoza. Mendoza is considered the top quarterback in the class, possessing accuracy and decision-making skills. The potential addition of Mendoza alongside Brock Bowers and Ashton Jeanty would give coach Klint Kubiak an offensive foundation.
The Jets, holding five first-round picks over the next two years, are projected to pick Arvell Reese. Reese is an explosive player who can play either as an edge rusher or off-ball linebacker. His explosiveness and block deconstruction skills could make him a key player in the Jets’ defensive rebuild.
Cardinals Aim to Bolster Pass Rush
The Cardinals could pair Josh Sweat with Sharrif Bailey. Bailey, an edge rusher, had 14.5 sacks last season for Texas Tech. His sack total tied him for the FBS lead, and he also recorded 19.5 tackles for loss. He is noted for his quick acceleration.
Potential Trades Highlighted
The mock draft anticipates several trades, including the Jets potentially dealing with the Cowboys and the Texans with the Cardinals. Four teams had multiple picks entering the mock draft exercise: the Rams (from the Falcons), Jets (from the Colts), Browns (from the Jaguars) and Cowboys (from the Packers). College pro days and free agency will further shape team needs before the draft.
The first round of the 2026 NFL draft is scheduled to begin on April 23 in Pittsburgh.
