NFL Draft: Analysts Offer 2026 Mock Draft First Round Picks

Four NFL draft analysts have collaborated to produce a three-round mock draft for the 2026 NFL draft. Mel Kiper Jr., Matt Miller, Jordan Reid, and Field Yates each made selections for the top 100 picks, rotating through the teams. The analysts approached the mock draft by considering what they would do in the role of a general manager for each team.

Analysts’ Approach to the Mock Draft

The analysts used their personal rankings and the latest information from the scouting industry to guide their selections. This mock draft differs from a straight prediction. Instead, it reflects the analysts’ preferred choices for each slot.

Mel Kiper Jr. has voiced his disagreement with claims that Ty Simpson is closing the gap on Fernando Mendoza ahead of this year’s NFL draft.

First Round Selections Highlighted

Kiper, with the Raiders’ pick, selected Fernando Mendoza, a quarterback from Indiana. Kiper believes Mendoza possesses the necessary attributes to become a franchise quarterback.

Miller, representing the Jets, opted for Arvell Reese, an Edge player from Ohio State. Miller favoured Reese’s potential over David Bailey’s proven track record, citing Reese’s double-digit sack potential and versatility.

Reid, making the selection for the Cardinals, chose Francis Mauigoa, an offensive tackle from Miami. Despite the Cardinals signing Elijah Wilkinson, Reid sees Mauigoa as a long-term solution at right tackle and considers him the top tackle in the class.

Yates, with the Tennessee Titans’ pick, selected David Bailey, an Edge player from Texas Tech. Bailey tied for the FBS lead with 14.5 sacks in 2025 and would provide the Titans with a young pass rusher.

Subsequent Picks and Player Assessments

Kiper, later in the draft, selected Jeremiyah Love, a running back from Notre Dame, for the Giants. Despite Kiper’s usual reluctance to pick running backs early, he sees Love as a dynamic playmaker who could significantly improve the Giants’ offense.

Miller, choosing for the Browns, picked Makai Lemon, a wide receiver from USC. Miller ranks Lemon as the top wide receiver in the class, highlighting his ability to create space and vary his routes, fitting well with the Browns’ youth movement.

Reid, selecting for Washington, chose Caleb Downs, a safety from Ohio State. Downs’ instincts and versatility would be a boost to Washington’s defence.

Yates, making a pick for the Saints, selected Sonny Styles, a linebacker from Ohio State.

The full mock draft, featuring all 100 picks, is available, with further analysis to be found on “NFL Draft Daily”.
