NCAA Softball Regionals: South Carolina Win in Los Angeles

South Carolina defeated Cal State Fullerton in the Los Angeles Regional, thanks to a four-run sixth inning. Virginia, South Florida, Mississippi State, and Texas Tech also recorded wins.

Gamecocks Rally in Los Angeles

Trailing 4-3, South Carolina used three singles to spark their comeback against Cal State Fullerton. Quincee Lilio then hit a three-run home run, her first of the season, putting the Gamecocks ahead late. The final score was 7-4 to South Carolina.

Cavaliers Edge Out Hoosiers

Virginia beat Indiana 8-7 in the Knoxville Regional. Reagan Hickey’s RBI single in the eighth inning secured the win for Virginia. The game featured multiple lead changes, with Indiana leading 3-0, 5-3, and 7-5 at different points.

Virginia responded each time to tie the game. Jade Hylton hit two home runs for the Cavaliers, driving in five runs and scoring the winning run. Ellie Goins hit two home runs for the Hoosiers.

Bulls Take Down Washington

South Florida defeated No. 7 Washington 3-1 in the Fayetteville Regional. Four singles in the seventh inning allowed South Florida to take the lead. Olivia Elliot, Kathy Garcia-Soto, Alexa Galligani and Alex Wilkes strung together four consecutive hits.

Anne Long pitched a strong game for the Bulls, surrendering only one run on seven hits with five strikeouts.

Mississippi State Prevails in Eugene

Mississippi State secured a 3-2 victory against Saint Mary’s in the Eugene Regional. Nadia Barbary’s walk-off single and an error sealed the win for Mississippi State. Saint Mary’s scored its only runs in the first inning with Sam Buckley’s two-run home run.

Mississippi State chipped away with a Barbary solo homer in the fourth and another run on an error in the fifth. Saint Mary’s committed three errors in the game.

Red Raiders Overcome Rain Delay

Texas Tech defeated Marist 10-3 in the Lubbock Regional, scoring in each of the first three innings. The game included a rain delay. Taylor Pannell hit a home run, and Mia Williams drove in two runs to reach 75 RBI on the year. The Red Raiders totaled 12 hits.

Bulldogs Get the Win

Georgia rallied to get a 5-2 win against College of Charleston. The Bulldogs had 12 hits to the Cougars’ two, breaking through with four runs in the fifth. Emily Digby and Natalie Ray singled to start the inning.

The NCAA softball regional action continues, with teams vying for a spot in the next round.
