NCAA Baseball Tournament Bracket Announced: UCLA Lands Top Seed

The chase for the NCAA Division I baseball national championship is down to its final 64 teams. The selection show for the 2026 NCAA Baseball Tournament took place, revealing the 64-team bracket.

The tournament is scheduled to begin with the regional round on Friday, May 29.

UCLA Secures Top Seed and Regional Host

UCLA earned the No. 1 overall seed for the 2026 NCAA Baseball Tournament. The Bruins went 51-6 in the regular season, winning Big Ten regular-season and tournament championships, and are led by All-American shortstop Roch Cholowsky.

UCLA will host a regional that also includes Virginia Tech, Cal Poly and Saint Mary’s.

Tournament Format and Key Dates

The 64 teams will be divided across four 16-team regionals. The highest-seeded team in each of the quartets serving as the host.

These champions will move on to the super regional round, where they’ll face off against another regional champion in a best-of-three series, with the winner advancing to the College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska.

The 64-team field is divided into 16 four-team regionals, which will stage double-elimination tournaments that will run from May 29 through June 1.

SEC’s Strong Representation

The SEC figures to yet again have a pronounced presence in the tournament. The conference has produced each of the past six national champions and has seven of the top 15 teams in the latest USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll.

The SEC accounts for seven of the 16 regional hosts.
