Thornton’s Control on the Mound
Thornton has displayed greater control compared to Tong and Wenninger. Despite having only two starts in AAA, he is the oldest of the three. He pitches to contact.
Other Pitching Options
Tong is still very young but seems to get rattled easily.
Pintaro seems to be a reliever. Perhaps he could piggyback with Myers until Myers is stretched.
Santucci is likely the next starter behind Thornton, Wenninger, and Tong in the prospect pecking order. Pintaro is most definitely a reliever now.
Facing the Nationals’ Offence
It will be interesting to see how Thornton’s pitching-to-contact style works against the very good offence of the Nats.
