MetLife Stadium is set for a temporary but significant change. As preparations ramp up for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the stadium will be known as New York New Jersey Stadium.
Why the Name Change?
The reason behind the alteration is FIFA’s policy regarding venue branding. FIFA does not allow stadiums with corporate-sponsored names or logos to be used during the World Cup.
To comply with these regulations, stadiums temporarily adopt generic city or regional names when hosting World Cup games.
New Signs Spotted
The change is already underway. On Monday, the new signs were seen being installed at the stadium.

Football fans can watch every match live in Spanish on Telemundo and Peacock, starting June 11.
The stadium is located in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
