A potential trade involving Las Vegas Raiders edge rusher Maxx Crosby is gaining traction.
The New England Patriots are among seven teams reportedly monitoring Crosby’s availability. Trade rumours surrounding Crosby have persisted, despite Las Vegas Raiders general manager John Spytek appearing to dismiss them less than one week ago.
Patriots Linked to Crosby Amid Trade Speculation
The Patriots have been linked to Crosby, and a potential trade price for the defender was reported last week.
Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer gave an update on the Crosby situation, reporting that a trade could happen in the coming days. Breer listed the Patriots among seven teams that are ‘keeping tabs on’ the 28-year-old.
According to Breer, a clean resolution would involve a market emerging organically, given Crosby’s bond with owner Mark Davis and his view of himself as a Raider. Breer suggests most teams will begin spending to their cap and cash budgets and filling roster spots a week from now.
Other Teams Interested in Crosby
Besides the Patriots, other teams showing interest in Crosby include Dallas, Chicago, Baltimore, Buffalo, Philadelphia, and the Rams.
The San Francisco 49ers were not listed as potential suitors. Breer’s omission suggests they aren’t frontrunners in the trade.
Potential Trade Compensation
Breer said it’s unlikely the Las Vegas Raiders receive the haul they got for Khalil Mack eight years ago, what the Dallas Cowboys got for Micah Parsons last year, or even what the Miami Dolphins received for Laremy Tunsil back in 2019.
Each of those deals included multiple first-round picks.
- Crosby recorded 28 tackles for loss in 15 games last season.
- He also had 20 quarterback hits.
- Crosby added 10.0 sacks.
What’s Next for Crosby?
Breer stated, ‘I’d lean toward a Maxx Crosby trade happening, and maybe this week. But there’s going to have to be some needle-threading.’
It is anticipated that we will soon know which path the Raiders are taking.
