Traffic on the M6 Toll was brought to a standstill after a coach caught fire, causing significant delays.
The incident occurred on the southbound carriageway between T4 at Weeford and T2 at Coleshill.
Coach Carrying Man City Fans to Wembley
The coach was en route from Manchester to Wembley Stadium for the English League Cup final.
It was carrying Manchester City fans heading to the Carabao Cup final against Arsenal.
Ridleys Coaches confirmed the vehicle was one of theirs and stated that all passengers and the driver were safely evacuated without any injuries.
Road Closure and Recovery Efforts
Traffic was stopped for two hours following the incident.
National Highways reported the road closure and added that the fire has now been extinguished.
A recovery and clear-up operation is set to take place later.
National Highways said that traffic caught up within the closure had been able to pass the scene, but drivers were warned to allow extra time for journeys.
Passengers Transferred to Replacement Coaches
Ridleys Coaches confirmed that the passengers are all safely on replacement coaches to the stadium.
The coach company is working with authorities to understand the circumstances and will provide further updates.
