Lazio and Inter Set for Coppa Italia Final Showdown

Lazio and Inter will compete in the Coppa Italia final. Lazio fans are returning to the stadium en masse for the final, promising a vibrant atmosphere at a packed Stadio Olimpico. A banner in the Curva Nord reads: “Senza Paura” (Without Fear).

Tribute to Mihajlovic

Before kick-off, both teams will pay tribute to Sinisa Mihajlovic, who died three years ago. The Serbian player had spells with both Lazio (1998-2004) and Inter (2004-2006). He also served as assistant coach at Inter under Roberto Mancini.

Inter’s President Praises Team’s Season

Inter’s president spoke before the match, praising the team’s season and energising the environment. He stated that a final is always a wonderful evening that repays everyone’s sacrifices. He added that they believe in this competition and hope to achieve their tenth victory, which metaphorically is worth another star.

When asked about putting it on the jersey, he responded that the rules do not allow it. The president emphasised that winning is the most important thing, describing it as something glittering. He noted that this group has been together for a few years, experiencing both victories and defeats, and has grown in mentality, stating that those who were boys have become men and have played important roles, adding that this was Chivu and the team’s scudetto and that the coach in particular played an important role, demonstrating his qualities.

Entertainment and Atmosphere

Nek will sing the Inno di Mameli before the Coppa Italia final 2025/2026 between Lazio and Inter. Nek, a Sassuolo fan who wrote the club’s new anthem, will perform the Italian national anthem just before kick-off, with both teams and match officials aligned on the pitch. Nek will be accompanied by the Banda Musicale della Guardia di Finanza. The band, founded on 6 May 1926, celebrates its 100th anniversary this year and consists of 102 musicians trained in prestigious national conservatories and has achieved significant success in major national and international theatres.

Lazio’s Sporting Director on the Club’s Ambitions

Lazio’s sporting director spoke before the match, stating that being there is important because they can compete for a trophy. He added that the journey to get there was amazing, something they did not expect after rejuvenating the squad. He said they want to enjoy it with their fans, who have returned to the stadium and can dream of pulling off an upset.

When asked if winning would change the future of Lazio and Sarri, he responded that money is not the difference in football, it requires planning, foresight and courage and they are demonstrating it. He added that he believes young Italian talents should be scouted, citing their own Motta as an example.
