Kaylyn Kyle, an Apple TV analyst, has been discussing the growth of Major League Soccer. She’s also been talking about the potential arrival of Neymar to MLS.
Vancouver Whitecaps’ Strengths
Kyle has a soft spot for Canadian teams in MLS, particularly the Vancouver Whitecaps. She believes the Whitecaps play a beautiful brand of football. Kyle notes they can play direct but also build up play in multiple ways with different players.
She highlighted Andres Cubas and Sebastian Berhalter as one of the best double pivots in the league. Kyle also mentioned Thomas Muller, Ryan Gauld, and Brian White as key players. She believes the Western Conference, which the Whitecaps currently top, is loaded with strong teams like LAFC and the San Jose Earthquakes.
Neymar to FC Cincinnati?
There has been talk of Neymar potentially joining FC Cincinnati. Kyle believes Neymar still has a lot to offer. She acknowledges his off-field antics have overshadowed his on-field talent. Kyle argues that Neymar was right there with Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo at their peak and is arguably a top three or four player to come out of Brazil.
State of MLS
Kyle believes the middle class of teams in MLS is better than it has been in a while. The Whitecaps played in the MLS Cup final last year. They were a Lionel Messi masterclass away from winning.
Kyle analyzes MLS weekly for Apple TV.
