Arsenal’s Karl Hein Completes Permanent Transfer to Werder Bremen

Karl Hein is set to join Werder Bremen on a permanent deal in July 2026.

The goalkeeper’s move to the Bundesliga side marks the next chapter in his career after spending several years with Arsenal.

Hein’s Time at Arsenal

Hein, aged 24, initially joined Arsenal in June 2018 from Nomme United. He signed his first professional contract with the club the following year. His first-team debut came in November 2022 during a Carabao Cup third-round match against Brighton & Hove Albion at Emirates Stadium.

Loan Spells and Bundesliga Experience

An Estonia international with 45 senior appearances for his country, Hein has gained experience through various loan spells. He spent the 2025/26 campaign on loan with Werder Bremen, making two Bundesliga appearances. Prior to that, he had a loan spell in the Championship with Reading during the 2021/22 season. He also played for Real Valladolid, making 32 appearances in all competitions last season.

Arsenal have expressed their gratitude for Hein’s contributions. They have also wished him well in his future endeavours with Werder Bremen.

The completion of the deal is contingent upon regulatory processes.
