Colorado Avalanche defenseman Josh Manson is set to feature in game four of the team’s series against the Minnesota Wild. Head coach Jared Bednar announced Manson’s availability to the media.
Manson has been sidelined since April 23 due to an upper-body injury.
Manson’s Return to the Lineup
Manson’s absence included the final game of the Avalanche’s first-round series against the Los Angeles Kings. He also missed the first three contests against the Wild.
When last in the lineup, Manson was skating on the left side of the team’s third pairing, partnering with veteran Brent Burns.
Impact on the Defensive Line
Nick Blankenburg has been filling Manson’s role during his absence. A change from Blankenburg to Manson would be a significant one.
Blankenburg is a quick, undersized defenseman standing at 5’9″ and weighing 177 pounds. Manson is a 6’3″ 218-pound defensive force.
Physicality Against the Wild
Bednar believes Manson’s physicality and size will be a boon against a heavyweight Wild team.
The Avalanche are likely eager to put him back in their lineup as they chase a 3-1 series lead.
His return could provide a needed edge as the series continues.
