José Ramírez is looking forward to the Cleveland Guardians’ home opener. This comes after a strong start to the 2026 MLB regular season for the team.
Guardians’ Positive Start to the Season
The Guardians have had a surprising start to the season. They split the opening series against the Seattle Mariners. Following that, they beat the two-time defending champion Los Angeles Dodgers in the following series, 2-1.
On April 1, the Guardians finished off the series against Los Angeles with a 4-1 win. This was arguably the team’s most well-rounded performance of the year.
Ramírez’s Thoughts on the Road Trip
José Ramírez said it felt good that the Guardians would be heading home with a positive record. He felt the team played good baseball. Ramírez stated it’s important to come up on the good side when you have these types of road trips.
He is excited to be playing in front of the fans at Progressive Field. Ramírez is also looking forward to being back home with his family.
Ramírez’s Performance and Approaching Record
Ramírez hit his first home run of the season in the win. His two-run home run came in the ninth inning. The ball came off his bat at 105.4 mph, going 376 feet.
He is currently hitting 4-for-28 from the plate. Ramírez leads the Guardians in at-bats. Three of his four knocks have been for extra bases, with two doubles and a home run. He has drawn two walks to five strikeouts.
Ramírez is approaching the organization’s all-time lead in games played. The series against the Dodgers marked his 1,614, 1,615 and 1,616 games played. He is now within three games of tying Terry Turner’s franchise record of 1,619.
Ramírez said taking sole control of that record is very important to him. It’s one of the main things he wanted as soon as he started in this organisation. He is looking forward to accomplishing it and is very excited about that.
He wants to continue finding ways to help lead this team to success.
If Ramírez can carry his ninth-inning momentum into the home series against the Cubs, Cleveland will be in a good spot to continue finding ways to put marks in the win column.
