Joel Embiid Ruled Out of Game 2 Against Knicks

The Philadelphia 76ers will be without Joel Embiid for their Wednesday game against the New York Knicks. According to reports, Embiid will miss Game 2 because of ankle and hip injuries.

Embiid’s Injury Woes Continue

Embiid’s absence follows a 137-98 Game 1 defeat to the Knicks where he managed 14 points in 25 minutes. This season has been plagued by injuries for Embiid. He previously missed time due to a knee issue early in the regular season.

In February, an oblique injury sidelined him for 13 games. He also missed games later in the season because of oblique management.

Embiid played in only 38 regular-season games. This marks the third consecutive season where he has played in fewer than 40 games.

Playoff Appendectomy and Return

Embiid also missed time due to an appendectomy. The procedure caused him to miss the first three games of the 76ers’ first-round playoff series against the Boston Celtics. Philadelphia went 1-2 in those games.

He returned for Game 4 and was key to the series moving forward. Though the 76ers lost that contest, Embiid led the team to three straight wins, advancing them to the second round.

Struggles in Game 1

Embiid, like many of his team-mates, struggled in Game 1 against the Knicks. He shot 3-of-11 from the field, with four rebounds and one assist in the defeat.

He was initially listed as probable for Game 2 with an ankle injury. He reportedly received treatment ahead of Game 2. However, he was unable to participate in the team’s shootaround Wednesday, leading to him being ruled out for the contest.

The Philadelphia 76ers will aim to level their playoff series against the New York Knicks without Embiid.
