German international Kai Huckenbeck is one step closer to a Speedway GP comeback. He booked his place in the 2026 FIM SGP Challenge with a 15-point maximum at the Glasgow qualifier on Saturday.
Huckenbeck secured five straight wins in Scotland to reach the Challenge at Terenzano on July 25. The top four riders there will secure their spot in the 2027 FIM Speedway Grand Prix World Championship.
Holder and Rowe Advance
Aussie champion Jack Holder also advanced to Italy. He was second after winning a run-off with Great Britain racer Anders Rowe, who also takes his place in Terenzano.
Harris Qualifies Again
The final two spots were claimed by Danish international Frederik Jakobsen and GB veteran Chris Harris. Both bagged 11 points, before beating former world No.3 Maciej Janowski in a run-off for the final qualification places.
Harris made it through to the Speedway GP elite the last time an FIM SGP Challenge took place in Italy at Lonigo in 2014. Janowski also qualified that night and will be hoping he gets called up as a replacement ahead of the event.
Swedish rider Victor Palovaara fell short of qualification on nine points, with GB rider Adam Ellis exiting on seven.
