England’s Hannah Botterman Out of Women’s Six Nations

England’s Hannah Botterman will play no part in the Women’s Six Nations as she requires surgery. The prop will have a second operation on an ankle injury sustained playing for Bristol in December. Saracens hooker May Campbell will also miss the tournament, requiring a knee operation next week.

Replacements Named as Injury List Grows

Bristol lock Delaney Burns and Saracens prop Liz Crake have been added to the squad as cover for the injured players. This comes as back row Alex Matthews has been ruled out of Saturday’s game against Scotland at Murrayfield. Matthews sustained a shoulder injury in the 33-12 win against Ireland last Saturday.

More Absentees for England

It was confirmed before the Six Nations that centre Tatyana Heard would miss the entire competition with a foot injury. Scrum-half Natasha Hunt and lock Morwenna Talling were ruled out of the rest of the tournament after suffering leg injuries against Ireland on Monday.

World Cup Winners Missing

There were already several absentees from the squad that won the World Cup in September. Zoe Stratford, Abbie Ward, Rosie Galligan and Lark Atkin-Davies are pregnant. Emily Scarratt and Abby Dow have retired.

England Prepare to Face Scotland

England’s team to play Scotland will be announced later on Thursday. Hannah Botterman started England’s World Cup final win against Canada in September.
