Sepúlveda Scores the Winner
Ángel Sepúlveda scored the match’s only goal in the 57th minute with a header. Efraín Álvarez took the right-side corner that led to the goal. The match was intense, but there were few clear chances.
Chivas had the best chance in the first half, but Atlas goalkeeper Antonio Sánchez saved a deflected shot. In the second half, Atlas tried to level the score, but Chivas nearly scored a second goal in the final minutes. A shot from Sergio Aguayo hit the post.
