FA Cup Semi-Finals: Guardiola and Arteta Prepare Their Sides

Managers are preparing their sides ahead of the FA Cup semi-finals.

Afternoon Press Conferences

Pep Guardiola is speaking before the FA Cup semi-final.

Mikel Arteta will speak for the first time since the defeat by Manchester City last weekend.

Crystal Palace Injury Update

Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner confirmed that Adam Wharton will be available for Saturday’s game after he missed Monday night’s 0-0 draw against West Ham: “Adam [Wharton] is good. He is fit and trained yesterday without any issues. So he’ll be available for Liverpool.”

“All the others are the same, so we’ve got no new injury concerns, which is good news.

“Of course, two injuries we still have are Eddie Nketiah and Evann Guessand. So they will miss this game.”

There are doubts about Nathaniel Clyne, who would make his 250th club appearance if he featured against his former club: “One question mark we have is Nathaniel Clyne. He was ill yesterday, but then was better in the evening. He’s being assessed at the moment. But hopefully he is available.”

West Ham’s Home Advantage

West Ham boss Nuno Espirito Santo on facing David Moyes, who used to manage West Ham: “David Moyes, you will know, is a good manager, but he’s going to be at the London Stadium. We’ve been improving our own factor, the support of the fans, and we count on them to try and compete well and have a good performance.”

“[Playing a former team] managers have the advantage of knowing the players, sometimes the routines. In this case, David knows the routines, knows the players. So we have to try and make new things happen so we do not become so predictable.”

“But it’s not another game. It is always a special game due to the respect and love that you have from former clubs, but you want to win. You want to compete and win.”

When asked how confident he feels about West Ham staying up boss Nuno Espirito Santo said: “Very confident. I think the performance of the team gives us all in the club the hope and the belief that we are competing well. This weekend is everything is at home.”

When asked about improvements in performances at home, he said: “I think since we joined, it was one of our main goals, to try and be comfortable at home. All the credit to the fans. I think the fans realise the situation of the team and really, really put an effort to support us, and the team is giving back.

“The atmosphere has been good, and having three games of the last five at home is positive for us in terms of defence.”
